Affiliate Income Calculator
Affiliate programs pay a commission when a visitor who clicked your link buys something. Enter clicks, conversion rate and order value to estimate monthly earnings.
The formula
Monthly earnings = clicks × purchase conversion × average order value × commission rate
With 1,000 clicks a month, a 2% conversion rate, a $50 average order and a 1–5% commission, you get about 20 orders and roughly $10–$50 a month, or $0.01–$0.05 per click.
What drives affiliate income
- Conversion rate: buying guides and reviews convert better than general information posts.
- Order value: pricier products pay more per sale, but conversion often drops.
- Commission rate: programs such as Amazon Associates pay different rates by category, and rates change. Check the current terms of the program you use.
Compared with AdSense
AdSense pays on ad clicks or views, while affiliate links only pay when a purchase happens. Posts with strong buying intent, such as comparisons and reviews, often earn more per visitor from affiliate links. Many site owners use both.
Good practice
- Disclose affiliate links clearly, as most programs and advertising rules require.
- Follow each program's terms on self-purchases and link placement.
- Replace the conversion and commission assumptions with your program reports.
FAQ
What commission rate should I assume?
It varies by program and product category, commonly from about 1% to 10%. Use the rate listed in your program terms.
What is a typical conversion rate?
It varies a lot by content type, often 1–5%. Start with 2% and adjust with your reports.
Why do I get clicks but no earnings?
Earnings need a completed purchase after the click. Informational posts can get many clicks and few sales.
Are taxes included?
No. Figures are pre-tax estimates.
